Following the warmth and creativity of last year’s retreat, Ink & Earth continues at Elsewhere-Farakunku this year — with something new.
Alongside our writers’ retreat for adults, we are introducing the Young Writers’ Atelier, a five-day creative writing experience for young writers aged 10–16.
The Atelier is designed to give young people the same thing we value so highly at Ink & Earth: time and space to explore ideas, experiment with words and discover their own voice. Through creative writing, storytelling, observation and playful activities, young writers will be encouraged to write without worrying about getting everything “right”.
Because sometimes the most interesting writing begins when you stop worrying about what writing is supposed to look like.
Set within the gardens of Elsewhere-Farakunku, with birdsong, nature and plenty of room to think, the Young Writers’ Atelier offers a very different kind of writing experience — one that gets young people away from screens, classrooms and the pressure to produce, and back to curiosity, imagination and the joy of making something from nothing.
Ink & Earth for the grown-ups. Young Writers’ Atelier for the next generation of storytellers.
And both begin with the same simple idea:
Give writers space, and see what grows.
