Your Escape Among The Trees

Everything taken care of
Remove the worries of what and where to eat!
Our in-house chef can prepare your meals in our 8-cover Whispering Bantaba restaurant. If and when you wish to explore beyond your personal paradise, we can provide a personal driver for your group.
No need to worry about a thing while you are out and about on your expedition - a security guard is based on the compound 24-hours a day.
Dip and Unwind
Take a refreshing dip in our elegant plunge pool and let the pace of the day slow down. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, it’s the perfect place to cool off, stretch out and simply unwind — whether you’re easing into the morning, returning from a day of exploring or watching the light change as the afternoon fades.
A Sanctuary for Birds
Settle into the gentle rhythm of Elsewhere, where birdsong is part of the landscape and our lush gardens attract an extraordinary variety of birdlife. From the comfort of your terrace, the gardens or beside the plunge pool, keep your eyes and ears open — you never know who might make an appearance. Footage by @MartinHenstock4
Whispering Bantaba
Our intimate, eight-seat restaurant is all about good food and good company. Intimate and relaxed, Whispering Bantaba feels more like gathering around the family table than dining out — with the chance to get to know our chef and enjoy freshly prepared meals in an unhurried setting.
The Perch Workspace
A quiet, inspiring space to work, think and create. The Perch is available to individuals looking for somewhere peaceful to focus, as well as groups needing a comfortable space for meetings, workshops or creative sessions. Surrounded by lush gardens and birdsong, it offers a calm space to concentrate, collaborate and let ideas take shape. And when you need a break, you don’t have to go far. Food is prepared to order and there’s a selection of homemade juices to enjoy, along with complimentary tea and coffee. Settle in, stay awhile and keep your attention where it belongs — on the work, the conversation or whatever idea you came here to explore. Whether you’re spending an hour, a day or longer, The Perch gives you room to work at your own pace, with nature all around you.
Wander and Explore
Step beyond the private terrace of your lodge and explore the lush tropical gardens at your own pace. Wander beneath the trees, follow the winding paths, discover quiet corners and take time to notice the plants, sounds and wildlife that make Elsewhere so special. There’s no set path to follow — just space to wander, explore and enjoy. Keep your eyes and ears open as you go and you’ll soon discover that the gardens are alive with activity. Birds flit between the branches, butterflies move through the foliage and the changing light brings something different to notice throughout the day. It’s an easy place to slow down, wander without purpose and let curiosity lead the way.
Tujereng Beach
Just a short distance from Elsewhere, Tujereng Beach offers a beautiful stretch of coastline tucked beyond a wonderful sweep of lush green vegetation. Follow the narrow tyre-lined pathway through the bushes and you’ll emerge onto the sandy clearing, with the Atlantic just beyond. Along the way, you may well find a few of Tujereng’s free-roaming cows going about their day. It’s a peaceful place to escape the busier beaches, take a long walk, watch local life unfold or simply sit beneath the trees and enjoy the Atlantic air. There’s something wonderfully unhurried about this little route to the sea — part of the pleasure is simply wandering through the vegetation and seeing where it leads.
Birdwatching Delights

Verreaux’s Eagle-Owl
One of Africa’s largest owls, and surely one of its most striking. Instantly recognisable by its extraordinary pink eyelids and enormous dark eyes. These magnificent nocturnal hunters spend much of the day tucked away among the trees, making an encounter with one all the more special. Keep your eyes on the branches at Elsewhere — you find this very bird watching you. A special thank you to @MartinHenstock4 for sharing this wonderful find — and for capturing such beautiful footage of this magnificent owl.
Meet Aubrey Ellington
Meet our charming resident peacock, Mr. Aubrey Ellington, taking centre stage in the gardens in full, glorious plumage. He can often be caught performing his own private dance — right in the middle of a flower bed waiting to bloom. At Elsewhere, even the garden preparations come with a little theatre.
Giant Kingfisher
One of the most striking visitors to Elsewhere, the Giant Kingfisher is hard to miss. With its bold black-and-white plumage, powerful red bill and unmistakable presence, it is the largest of Africa’s kingfishers. Watch closely and you may catch one perched quietly, scanning the water below for its next meal. Here at Elsewhere, encounters like this are part of the everyday magic — no birdwatching trip required. Thank you once again to @MartinHenstock4 for sharing this wonderful footage with us.
